The goal of this project was to realign Nā Leo TV’s renewed mission and vision with integrity, transparency, and community trust. Nā Leo TV brought me on as their brand designer to translate that transformation into a complete visual rebrand that could help the organization move forward, reestablish credibility once again, and visually communicate a new era for the organization as a whole.

Overview of Client
As Hawaiʻi Island’s community media center since 1993, Nā Leo TV had long served as a platform for local voices. However, following the conviction of its former CEO for financial misconduct, the organization faced the challenge of rebuilding its public image and reaffirming its true purpose. In 2023, new leadership set out to redefine what Nā Leo TV stood for—both inside and out. A big haul was to reimagine their brand identity.

Design Decisions
To align my design direction with Nā Leo TV’s new organizational vision, I developed a signal-inspired logo that symbolized their innovation, community-oriented, forward-thinking approach to community storytelling. The signal design reflects Nā Leo TV’s role as a place where voices are amplified and stories are shared across our community. The shapes and clean lines give it a sense of clarity and professionalism, echoing the organization’s values of transparency and trust. The lines meeting at the center represent unity in differences, while the varying arcs symbolize generations of storytellers on Hawaiʻi Island coming together with a shared mission. In response to the organization’s desire to move away from the former turquoise and black palette, I introduced a bright orange and yellow sunrise color scheme to evoke warmth, renewal, and new beginnings—truly signaling the dawn of a revitalized chapter for Nā Leo TV.
