The Ulumano gale is a strong, southeast wind known in Puna and Kaʻū, testing whatever stands against it. In this 1913 mele published in Ka Nūpepa Kūʻokoʻa, it becomes a measure of endurance: the flame that holds steady is proven by the gale, not despite it. That's the principle behind the name. Reputation isn't built in calm weather. It's revealed in the wind.

Start by requesting a consultation below. We’ll meet for a dedicated call to confirm our visions for a project together aligns. If we fit, you’ll receive a tailored project proposal and next steps.

Before design begins, we define your competitive direction. This phase focuses on research, exploration, and narrowing in on a strategy-driven approach.

Once the direction is chosen, we move into design. I present the strategy supported brand design, and we collaborate to refine it until it aligns with the approved strategy.

Upon your final sign-off, your brand files are delivered in an organized structure. I provide a guided walkthrough so you know exactly how to care for your new branding.

Meet the Consultant
Aloha! I'm Ku'uhiapo.
I grew up in Puna on the east side of Hawai'i Island, and the way I was raised shapes how I work. I was taught to build on what those who came before me laid down, to look out for others before myself, and to treat any work I do with integrity. So if we end up working together, I want you to know who is actually's going to be on the other end of the emails. I ask questions that might feel more than you expected, because I want to understand what you are trying to protect, not just what you want the logo to look like. When I am not working, I am usually volunteering around Hilo, helping both of my kumu hula in hālau, taking care of family kuleana, and living life.
