Ku'uhiapo is Ulumano.
A Native Hawaiian graphic designer helping brands boldly claim their space.

Located on Hawai'i Island, Ulumano partners with kuleana-led leaders looking to elevate their work and build their reputation beyond a logo.

The reason behind the name

"My 'ohana comes from Kalapana, Puna, Hawai'i Island. My reason behind the name was not simply branding, but rather, it is personal to me.
The powerful, unrelenting, and undeniable Ulumano wind of Puna and Kaʻū was held at a high regard by the kupuna of that area. I commit myself to the highest degree of professionalism and integrity as the name requires me to. My work is an ode to my ʻohana, helping others claims their space, powerfully and respectfully."

Principles Guiding
My Ulumano Work

Hoʻokāhua

To operate from and build upon the kāhua laid by our kūpuna, while courageously and strategically step into uncharted territory and claim spaces that matter.

Hoʻokele

To proactively solve problems for the well-being of Hawaiʻi Pae ʻĀina and the lāhui, while championing other aloha ʻāina stewards who share this kuleana.

Hoʻolaʻa

To pursue excellence in craftsmanship, integrity in character, humility in action, and service for the fellowman, as an act of reverence, dedication, and love for Christ.

Meet The Designer

Waipuna lau ke aloha nui!

I'm Ku'uhiapo (Hiapo for short)— the designer behind Ulumano. I believe brands with a moʻolelo to tell and a kuleana to fulfill deserves to claim their space boldly and professionally. However, no kuleana can be fully realized without a strong kāhua. That's what I bring: A kāhua of strategy, design, and understanding of Hawaiʻi you can rely on. My work is informed by my background in public relations, kuanaʻike Hawaiʻi, and my Christian faith.
